Joeboy was born Joseph Akinfenwa Donus on 21st May 1997 in Lagos State, Nigeria into a Yoruba family. Joeboy will be 25 years old in 2022. We know very little about his origins save that he is Yoruba, a large ethnic group in Nigeria.
Joeboy attended high school in Lagos and also got a degree in human resource management from the University of Lagos. He began music at a young age, learning skills from his father, who played the piano in church, and his brother, who sang in the church choir.

Joeboy began singing at the tender age of sixteen. At the age of 17, he released his debut afrobeat song, “Gbeseyin.” He continues to create short musical cover versions and share them on social media.
