Naira Marley was born Azeez Fashola in Agege, Lagos State, Nigeria. He relocated to Peckham, South London, England, at the age of 11.

He began his studies at Porlock Hall and then transferred to Walworth School, where he acquired a General Certificate of Secondary Education.

Naira Marley attended Peckham Academy and graduated with honors in business.

He went on to finish his business law studies at Crossways College, now Christ the King Sixth Form College.

While a young fellow, Naira Marley aspired to be an MC and voice over artist.
